One of the most famous events in the city's main festival, the Festes de la Mercè, is undoubtedly the race that bears its name. This competition is notable because it is one of the first to have been organized for charity. Although it has a festive character, it is also competitive for everyone who takes part in it, and since 2010 it has been part of the BCN 10km Challenge.

Finally, demonstrating that the Cursa de la Mercè is more than just a race, the event is open to all members of the public and has an adapted format. A 2 km circuit where people with intellectual disabilities or reduced mobility, who are physically unable to run a distance of 10 km, will be able to participate.
