Enjoy Barcelona with your family: here are the best plans to fill your photo album with unforgettable memories 10/05/2022

They say that life is made up of little moments. And in your personal memory album, family moments are surely the ones that matter the most. Today we want to share with you a series of plans that ensure laughter, complicity and surprises to share with your family, and that we are confident you will always remember. Because all these experiences will become magical moments for the young –and the not so young– and will hold a privileged place in your family album. Let's go hunting for memories!

1. Boys and girls are all about satisfying their curiosity

Museu de la Ciència Cosmocaixa Barcelona

Welcome, scientists in the making

Here's a fact for little and big scientists alike: there is a supercomputer in Barcelona. Its name is Marenostrum, and it is the king of calculation, probabilities and simulations. If you go see it, they will explain everything it can do, as it is located in one of the 46 science and technology spaces in the city that allow visitors. Speaking of visits, almost a hundred years ago, in 1923, Einstein visited Barcelona to give three lectures on... guess what? Well, yes, relativity. You can follow the route that traces the steps Einstein himself took during those six days.

L'Aquàrium Barcelona

Sharks, piranhas and whale skeletons

Any aspiring biologists in the room? Barcelona's Aquarium will become your private paradise: eleven thousand marine species (sharks included!) await you. It's the perfect space for animal, sea and nature lovers as it offers activities to learn, look, touch, investigate and discover the fascinating marine world.
The Museu de la Ciència Cosmocaixa's flooded forest is a giant greenhouse that houses piranhas and crocodiles. It is one of the many attractions that this interactive science museum has to offer. And right at the entrance of the Natural Science Museum, a giant whale skeleton awaits you.
Looking for more plans for little dreamers? The Fabra Observatory has two very powerful telescopes that will make you feel like you can touch the stars. And in Casa Batlló you will be able to enter Gaudí's mind thanks to a spectacular immersive visit: the Casa Batlló 10D Experience.

2. They just won't stand still... So let them run!

Sea activities

Adventures at sea

Restless boys and girls: welcome to Barcelona. 5 km of beaches await you to play, splash and run in the open air. The Mediterranean Sea is a great place to try new activities: how about paddle surfing or kayaking? You can also go out sailing in catamarans or other types of boats. There are many activities to do at the sea and the beach, some of which will make teenagers forget about their cell phones for a while!

Horse riding

Show your inexhaustible energy!

Barcelona is not too big of a city, so travelling around by bike can be a fun option for the whole family. And if you like walking together, there are multiple hiking options such as a visit to Montserrat (you can also go on horseback), or to Barcelona's Secret Forest in the Serra de Collserola: spectacular views are guaranteed. But as not all sports have to be tiring, you can visit the interactive museum of one of the best soccer clubs in the whole world (Futbol Club Barcelona) without getting all sweaty like the team's stars, or you can run against Carl Lewis at the Olympic and Sports Museum... figuratively, of course.

3. Barcelona is for artists of all ages

Fundació Miró

Let inspiration surprise you, either by watching or by doing

The great works of Picasso, Miró or Tàpies are waiting to inspire and be admired by all young artists in their respective museums. If these visits awake the desire to create your own work, thanks to this mosaic workshop you can take home a very original self-made souvenir using Gaudí's "trencadís" technique. Another place that will make the hours fly by is the Poble Espanyol, a walled enclosure for pedestrians (and therefore, ideal for children to move freely) with replicas of the most representative buildings in Spain, craft workshops and a family program with music, theater and much more.

4. Warning for adventure lovers: don't forget your explorer's hat

Museu Egipci

Exploring history can be a lot of fun

At the MUHBA (the History Museum of Barcelona) in Plaza del Rey, the remains of Roman Barcelona await you: a true journey through time. And the city's Egyptian Museum is full of mummies, sarcophagi and now also an exhibition on the tomb of Tutankhamun. You will discover all the secrets of this great civilization next to an expert Egyptologist!

5. Let's go to the park?

Torre Glòries Park

In Barcelona's parks there is much more than just swings

Whichever you choose, you will get an extra surprise bonus. For example, Ciutadella Park has a lake with boats... and a mammoth! In L'Oreneta Park there is a small train. Get on board! You can also get "lost" in the labyrinth of Laberint d'Horta Park or become medieval knights and princesses in the castle of Montjuïc Park (which has spectacular views of the sea). But undoubtedly, the most magical, original and surprising park of all is the famous Park Güell by Gaudí. Among mosaic dragons, fairytale houses, undulating benches and stone forests, time will evaporate.

Port Aventura

Experience the thrill of the ride!

Are swings not enough for you? Then feel the thrill at Barcelona's amusement parks. Tibidabo offers incredible views of the city (it is 500 meters above sea level) and has rides such as the giant Ferris wheel or the roller coaster, as well as a beautiful museum of automatons. And less than an hour and a half from Barcelona, Port Aventura World brings together several amusement parks. You can't miss it!

6. Are you up for a dragon hunt?

Dragon. Park Güell

Feel the power of imagination

It is said that Barcelona is the city with the most dragons in the world, so we encourage you to look for them and turn a walk into an adventure. Did you know that many modernist buildings, inspired by nature, also hide stone lizards, turtles and swallows? Let's see who finds them first! Discover all the magic that some of the places of interest in the city can offer.

7. Getting around Barcelona Jules Verne style

Bus Turístic

Alternativa: Getting around Barcelona as in Around the World in 80 Days

Scientists, artists, explorers and athletes in the making: you can move around the city by land, sea and air as did the protagonist of "Around the World in 80 Days", which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. Check out how many fun ways there are to visit the city!
And if you're still in the mood for some fun, a good option is to look for the ideal activity in Barcelona's family agenda: shows, concerts, circus, theater, dance performances... what do you want to see today?

Feeling hungry? It's only logical, so many activities whet one's appetite. No problem; there are plenty of family restaurants where you can rest and recover, and when you're done... go explore the city again! All you have to do is get the Barcelona Card Family, the card gives you access to transportation, culture and leisure.

The pages of your memory album are waiting for you.
