For many years the trophy has been won by the New York Yacht Club of the United States but since 1983 countries such as Australia, Switzerland and New Zealand have won it, with the current champion being the Emirates Team New Zealand. Barcelona's Port Vell will have large areas and viewing platforms for the public. After various preliminary regattas, the America's Cup Match will begin on October 12, 2024.

    On June 23, a good number of ORC Cruise type vessels will set sail from the port of Barcelona to the Port of Mahón, in Menorca, each with the aim of getting there first. This is the Menorca Sant Joan regatta, Alfonso XIII Trophy, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona and the Club Marítimo de Mahón by delegation of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, and with the collaboration of the Catalan Sailing Federation and the Balearic Islands Sailing Federation. In addition, the points obtained in this regatta also count towards the Spanish and Catalan Offshore Sailing Championships. A maritime scene worth contemplating.
