The exhibition Essential. Female workers at the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona 1917-1987 reveals a fundamental part of the museum's history: that of the roles of women who worked there from the last century until the end of the Transition. The exhibition explores the contribution of women in "auxiliary" tasks, conservation of collections and leadership, highlighting their importance and limitations. It is an opportunity to reflect on the invisibility of women in science and to value their contribution in the field of natural science museums. The story will be narrated with basic instruments, such as archives and visual documents. The exhibition is a tribute to a group of about fifty women workers at the museum and their evolution in the history of natural science museums.
